Junior high students at Sacred Heart School play an increasing role in planning and presenting school masses, prayer services, and service projects.

Sixth graders work on understanding and appreciating the Bible and the events that contributed to itsformation. Hebrew Scriptures and Roman Catholic beliefs and traditions are the primary focus.

Seventh grade curriculum centers on the Good News of Jesus Christ and the New Testament. Our study incorporates the four pillars of the Catholic cathechism: what we believe, how we worship, how we live, and how we pray. Our text is supplemented with lectures, discussions, activitiers and Bible readings. Special projects relate to the liturgical seasons.

Eighth graders explore and study the history of the Church, beginning with the apostolic age and age of persecution, and following the Church’s story up to modern times. Preparation for celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation is addressed throughout the year. Students meet personally with a member of the parish and write a letter to the Bishop explaining his or her thoughts about Confirmation. Service hours are also an integral part of Confirmation preparation.
